Man, who grabbed his ex-wife’s daughter’s 1-year-old girl by her head following an argument with the woman and dropped her from second-story balcony, was arrested

Wisconsin – In a harrowing incident in Wisconsin, a 31-year-old man, identified as J. Eiland is accused of throwing a 1-year-old child from a second-story balcony, leading to serious charges including substantial battery and child neglect. The events unfolded on a tense afternoon on March 13, turning a domestic argument into a scene of violence.

The police department responded to a distressing scene at the hospital where the young victim and her mother, S. Walters, were receiving medical attention. According to police reports, Walters and Eiland had an argument after the woman asked Eiland why her baby was crying—a decision that led to a violent outburst. Eiland, in a fit of rage, is reported to have threatened Walters with a knife, aggressively stating, “You gone die today.” As the argument intensified, Eiland grabbed the 1-year-old girl by her head, carried the child to the balcony, and in a shocking act, dangled her before intentionally dropping her onto the ground below. Fortunately, the child narrowly missed hitting an air conditioning unit, which could have resulted in more severe injuries.

The child’s mother described the fear and helplessness of the moment, telling local news sources, “She could’ve died. She could’ve gotten really hurt from that, and I’m just mad.” Despite the grave potential for critical injuries, the child miraculously suffered only minor injuries. Following the incident, Eiland reportedly engaged in a physical altercation with Walters, further escalating the violence before fleeing the scene. Authorities were able to locate Eiland shortly after, leading to his arrest and the pressing of charges. According to authorities, Eiland was the ex-husband of Walters’ mother.

Eiland was taken into custody and charged with substantial battery with intent to cause harm, physical abuse of a child, and domestic abuse. During the police interview, Eiland described the event as a “tug of war” over the child, suggesting a moment of realization only after the child had fallen. During Eiland’s court appearance on March 17, his bond was set at $15,000, and conditions were imposed for electronic monitoring and a strict no-contact order with the victim’s family if bail was posted. The community and family members are left reeling from the event, struggling to comprehend the actions that led to such a dangerous situation.

Eiland’s case is a stark reminder of the tragic implications of domestic violence and the perilous environments it creates for the most vulnerable. The judicial system’s response highlights a community’s resolve to protect its members and ensure that such grievous actions do not go unpunished. Eiland is scheduled to return to court on March 24, where the proceedings will continue, and the community will look for answers and justice for the young victim.
