New measures introduced by the Texas Lottery Commission to ensure compliance and integrity

Texas – In a move aimed at enhancing security and integrity, the Texas Lottery Commission has announced two immediate actions following a Policy Statement issued by Executive Director Ryan Mindell on Monday, February 24. These actions are designed to ensure the Texas Lottery continues to function as intended, reinforcing compliance efforts across the state.
Investigations into Lottery Courier Services
As of February 24, the Texas Lottery Commission has expanded its investigations to include all lottery courier services operating in Texas. Previously ongoing reviews will continue, alongside new investigations that were opened on the same day. This move comes as part of the Commission’s broader effort to monitor and regulate third-party services that facilitate lottery ticket purchases.
Reduction in Lottery Terminals at Retail Locations
Also effective February 24, the Texas Lottery Commission has placed a strict limit on the number of lottery terminals allowed at retail locations. Under the new rule, no licensed Texas Lottery retailer may operate more than five terminals. If any retailer currently has more than five, their total will be reduced to meet this new requirement.
Texas Lottery Commission Executive Director Ryan Mindell reinforced the importance of these measures, stating:
“Yesterday’s Policy announcement reflects the Texas Lottery Commission’s unwavering commitment to enforcing lottery regulations by thoroughly investigating lottery courier services and enforcing retail compliance. We are taking decisive steps to uphold the public’s trust and ensure that the lottery operates as intended – in a fair and secure manner. Further actions may be taken as investigations progress and measures are enforced.”
These steps highlight the Commission’s firm stance on maintaining the integrity of the Texas Lottery. Additional actions may follow as the investigations continue and compliance efforts advance.
