Fort Worth announces major awareness campaign for America Recycles Day

Fort Worth, Texas – The Fort Worth City Council officially proclaimed Saturday, Nov. 15, as America Recycles Day underscoring the city’s ongoing dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship. With this proclamation, Fort Worth invites residents of all ages to take part in a variety of fun and educational activities that celebrate the power and impact of recycling.

The city’s Environmental Services Department has teamed up with the Fort Worth Public Library to host two main events on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. These will take place at the Golden Triangle Library, located at 4264 Golden Triangle Blvd., and the Vivian J. Lincoln Library, at 8829 McCart Ave.

Each event will feature live demonstrations, interactive booths, recycling games, and hands-on experiences aimed at helping attendees better understand how recycling works and why it matters. Residents will have the opportunity to take the official Recycling Pledge, earn free giveaways, and learn more about Fort Worth’s curbside recycling program. WM, the city’s residential collections partner, will also be on-site to share educational material about its new, advanced Material Recovery Facility and display its recycling trucks.

Weeklong Recycle-Themed Festivities Lead Up to Main Events

In the days leading up to the main celebration, from Nov. 9 through Nov. 14, the Fort Worth Public Library will host Recycle Week. This series of events will include recycle-themed children’s story hours, recycled art exhibits, craft projects, ESL classes focusing on recycling, and more. Multiple library branches across the city will participate, creating opportunities for residents of all ages to get involved.

Why It All Matters

“Recycling keeps valuable materials in use, reduces waste and conserves energy and natural resources.” City officials emphasize that every item placed in a blue recycling cart — whether a bottle, a can, a sheet of paper, or a cardboard box — contributes to a cleaner, greener Fort Worth. These efforts not only protect the environment but help ensure a healthier future for generations to come.

The City’s recognition of America Recycles Day and the expanded activities during Recycle Week reflect Fort Worth’s growing commitment to sustainability and educating the community on how simple habits can make a big difference.
