City of Dallas launches new Love Your Block grant cycle to support resident-led neighborhood improvements

Dallas, Texas – The City of Dallas is once again calling on residents to help shape and improve their neighborhoods, announcing the opening of applications for the second year of its Love Your Block grant program. Building on the success of the previous funding cycle, the initiative aims to empower residents to lead hands-on neighborhood improvement efforts that strengthen community pride and encourage civic participation.

Through Love Your Block, Dallas residents are invited to propose projects that address local needs and enhance the appearance and functionality of their neighborhoods. The mini-grant program supports small but meaningful efforts such as neighborhood cleanups, beautification work, and other improvements that help create safer and more welcoming spaces.

Residents leading change one block at a time

Funded projects can take many forms. Past Love Your Block efforts across the country have included transforming vacant lots into community gardens, repairing playground equipment, removing trash from public areas, and improving shared spaces. These projects are designed not only to improve physical surroundings but also to strengthen connections among neighbors and build trust between residents and local government.

The program encourages proposals that demonstrate strong community pride, active neighborhood participation, and a commitment to lasting improvement. By placing residents at the center of the process, the city hopes to cultivate long-term civic engagement and foster partnerships that extend beyond the life of individual projects.

The initiative is supported by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. Love Your Block operates nationwide, bringing city leaders and community members together to build stronger neighborhoods while promoting social cohesion and increased civic involvement.

“Love Your Block empowers residents to take ownership of neighborhood improvements while strengthening community pride and partnerships with the City,” said Code Compliance Director Chris Christian.
