Dallas Animal Services launches gift card rewards to help long stay dogs find forever homes

Dallas, Texas – In a new effort to help long-stay dogs find loving homes, Dallas Animal Services (DAS) and its nonprofit partner, Friends of Dallas Animal Services, are offering incentives to potential adopters in the form of Petco gift cards.
The initiative focuses on dogs that have spent more than 30 days at the shelter. The longer the dog’s stay, the larger the gift card offered to those who adopt them. Eligible adopters will receive:
-
A $30 Petco gift card for adopting a dog that has stayed 30+ days
-
A $40 gift card for 40+ days
-
A $50 gift card for 50+ days
-
And a $60 gift card for dogs that have been in the shelter for 60+ days
These gift cards are meant to assist new pet parents with supplies while also encouraging quicker adoptions for dogs that have been waiting the longest.
Adoptions through DAS remain completely free, and each dog adopted comes with several added benefits. All adopted dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccinations. Adopters will also receive:
-
A 20% off Petco coupon
-
A free week of 1-on-1 virtual dog training with GoodPup
-
A free exam at Modern Vet
This program not only helps create space in the shelter for more animals in need, but also aims to provide better support for adopters and their new companions.
“We want to help these pets find homes faster, create space for more animals in need, and better support our community,” said representatives from DAS.
