6-year-old boy died after his 10-year-old stepsister followed their drunk father’s instructions to move the truck and accidentally struck the little boy; father arrested

Texas – In a shocking incident in Texas, a 31-year-old man, identified as C. Johnson, has been charged with criminally negligent homicide after his 10-year-old daughter, following his instructions, accidentally ran over and killed his 6-year-old stepson during a family gathering. The heartbreaking incident has left a community stunned and a family shattered.

Johnson was officially charged with state jail felony criminally negligent homicide after investigators determined that his poor judgment and actions directly led to the fatal accident. Jail records show that Johnson was arrested on Tuesday, following the deadly crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon. He was later released from the county jail after posting a $3,000 bond. It remains unclear if Johnson has obtained legal representation or when his next court appearance will be scheduled.

The fatal incident occurred during what began as a seemingly normal family afternoon. According to the arrest affidavit, Johnson, his partner, and their children were outside grilling. The young girl had been riding a tricycle nearby while her 6-year-old stepbrother sat peacefully on the porch, playing with his mother’s cellphone.

However, the relaxed atmosphere quickly turned tragic. The girl’s mother told investigators that Johnson’s pickup truck was blocking the girl’s path, so Johnson directed his daughter to “scoot it up.” According to her statement, the girl became confused while attempting to move the vehicle. Instead of gently moving the truck, she accidentally pressed down on the gas pedal, sending the truck crashing into the porch. Emergency responders from the sheriff’s office rushed to the scene after receiving a call at around 1 a.m. They arrived at the home to find a devastating scene. The family’s Nissan Titan truck had smashed into the rear of the porch, causing extensive damage. The crash left boards, poles, chairs, and other household items strewn about.

Near the wreckage lay the family’s young boy, motionless on his back in front of the vehicle. Paramedics quickly transported him to a hospital, but despite their efforts, the boy was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The girl, deeply shaken by what had happened, told authorities she had lost control of the truck after being told to move it. The mother’s account echoed this, explaining that the child had previously driven on back roads but got confused during this particular moment. “The girl got confused and got on the gas causing the accident,” the affidavit states.

Adding another disturbing layer to the incident, both Johnson and the boy’s mother reportedly admitted to drinking that day while grilling. Deputies noted that both adults smelled of alcohol and admitted to consuming three or four drinks each before the deadly accident occurred. Johnson himself admitted to authorities that he had allowed his daughter to drive the truck in the past, though never in such a dangerous setting. Despite this history, investigators concluded that telling a 10-year-old to move a large vehicle, especially while under the influence of alcohol, demonstrated clear negligence that ultimately led to the child’s death.

Following a thorough investigation, an arrest warrant was issued, and Johnson was taken into custody. Though he has since posted bond, he faces serious legal repercussions for the fatal misjudgment that cost his stepson’s life. If convicted, Johnson could face significant prison time for criminally negligent homicide, a charge that underscores the severe consequences of his actions. The case remains a painful reminder of how quickly negligence can turn a family gathering into tragedy. As Johnson awaits his day in court, a family and community are left to mourn the senseless loss of a young boy whose life was cut tragically short.
