Fort Worth airports continue to grow steadily with new investments and rising revenues

Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth’s network of airports is undergoing a major transformation, marked by increased traffic, rising revenues, and major investments aimed at expanding capacity and improving safety. Since 2020, operations at Fort Worth’s airports have grown by approximately 7% annually, with revenue nearly doubling in that period. This upward trend has continued at a steady pace, with annual revenue growth ranging between 3% and 5% since 2023.
The city’s aviation system includes Meacham International Airport, Spinks Airport, and Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport—each of which is benefiting from both public and private investment aimed at positioning Fort Worth as a leader in aviation infrastructure.
Meacham International Airport Expansion
Meacham International Airport is attracting significant private investment, with nearly 280,600 square feet of new hangar space currently being developed across 19.8 acres. This project is projected to bring in $418,339 annually by fiscal year 2028.
Several key infrastructure upgrades are underway at Meacham:
-
Reconstruction of Apron Bravo and Taxiway Golf, which is expected to be completed by February 2026.
-
A new maintenance building, slated for completion by fiscal year 2027.
-
Enhancements to airport frontage, set to finish in October 2026.
One of the most significant upgrades will be the construction of a brand-new air traffic control tower. The current 54-foot tower will be replaced by a modern 119-foot structure, fully funded by the FAA through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The $13 million tower is scheduled for completion by late 2027.
Spinks Airport Sees Growth on the East Side
Spinks Airport is also on the rise, with private development covering 5.7 acres. This includes the construction of 17 box hangars and 24 T-hangars, adding up to 85,228 square feet of new space. These additions are expected to bring in $78,085 annually by fiscal year 2026.
Key developments include:
-
Acquisition of 36 acres of property on the airport’s east side, finalized in December 2024.
-
Completion of Phase II taxi lanes to provide hangar access, scheduled for summer 2026.
Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport Plans for Long-Term Growth
Perot Field has recently completed key improvements including runway repairs, taxiway extensions, and the addition of a new aircraft rescue and firefighting truck. The airport will continue its upgrades through 2030, with ongoing projects aimed at maintaining taxiways, preserving airfield shoulders, and improving overall operational efficiency.
Multi-Source Funding Supports Continued Development
The series of upgrades across Fort Worth’s airports is being supported by a combination of funding sources. These include grants from the FAA and Texas Department of Transportation, contributions from the City of Fort Worth, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocations, gas well revenues, and proceeds from the Perot Field Noise Land Sale.
As Fort Worth looks ahead, the city’s five-year plans emphasize comprehensive improvements across both airside and landside facilities, ensuring the airports can handle growing traffic volumes while enhancing safety and supporting regional economic development.
