Woman “crawled” out of her home with a bloodied face after her 52-year-old boyfriend, who beats her two or three times a week, slammed a dresser on her as she slept; boyfriend arrested

Florida – In a deeply unsettling case of domestic violence in Florida, a 52‑year-old man, identified as E. Mack, was arrested after violently beating his girlfriend while she slept, striking her repeatedly with several items, then slamming a heavy dresser on top of her while she slept in her room. The accused, Mack, now faces charges including domestic battery and cruelty to animals.

Mack was arrested after law enforcement reviewed a probable cause affidavit that detailed his violent attack on his girlfriend inside her home. According to the affidavit, the victim reported that during the night Mack beat her in a violent act that left her face and body badly bruised and bloodied. The cruelty extended beyond her: Mack is also accused of killing her chihuahua, which tried to protect her. The dead dog was later found in a pillowcase — evidence that played a role in the cruelty to animals charge.

Neighbors who heard the woman’s screams called 911, repeating “he beat her” and alerting police that there was “blood all over the walls.” When officers arrived, the victim was in the process of crawling out of the house — hysterical, disoriented, and clearly injured. She bore bruises all over her body and was bleeding from the face and mouth. Paramedics who responded noted that her blood pressure was “dangerously high,” though she refused transport to the hospital. Witnesses told police that this was not the first time. According to one neighbor, Mack beats the victim two or three times a week, indicating a pattern of domestic abuse that had gone unreported until now. The neighbor said that each time, Mack seemed to escape consequences, even though the victim would call in fear. On this occasion, the violence escalated to life‑threatening proportions.

According to the police report, the assault began while the victim slept. Mack used several items as weapons, striking her repeatedly before slamming the dresser on top of her. The victim later told investigators she feared for her life, especially after seeing the dog dead and realizing the brutality had no limit. She believed Mack intended to return and kill her and feared he meant to take “everything” from her. After the neighbor’s call, police searched the home. Inside they discovered extensive blood on walls, floors, and furniture. The dead dog, a chihuahua, lay wrapped in a pillowcase. Investigators described the scene as cruel and inhumane, concluding that the animal suffered a needless, painful death.

After gathering evidence and compiling witness statements, police obtained an arrest warrant for Mack. He was taken into custody and transported to the county jail, where he remains held without bond. During arraignment, Mack entered a not‑guilty plea. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 2, as prosecutors and defense prepare for trial. Given the severity of the attack and the pattern of repeated abuse, the case has drawn public attention not only for the violence against the woman but also for the cruelty to a defenseless pet. Prosecutors have indicated they may seek additional charges depending on results of further investigation.

The victim remains in shock from the brutal assault. Though she declined hospital treatment at the scene, the extent of her injuries and the emotional trauma she endured have raised serious concern among neighbors and social workers. Local advocates for domestic violence victims say the case is a tragic example of how severe abuse can escalate when not stopped and how a history of unreported incidents can lull victims into staying silent until violence becomes life-threatening. They hope this arrest and the pending charges will bring attention to the importance of intervention, support, and protective services for victims who lack resources or feel trapped.
