New online tool gives Dallas residents access to detailed police complaint records and outcomes

Dallas, Texas – In a significant move to increase transparency and build community trust, the City of Dallas’ Office of Community Police Oversight (OCPO), in collaboration with the Office of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, has officially launched a new Transparency & Accountability Dashboard. This publicly available digital tool is designed to give Dallas residents a clearer, easier, and more meaningful way to access and understand police oversight data.

Real-Time Complaint and Oversight Data Now Accessible

The dashboard pulls its data directly from IAPro, the system used by the Dallas Police Department (DPD) to manage and track both internal and external administrative complaints. It currently includes information dating back to October 2019, providing users with a broad historical view of complaint activity involving Dallas police officers. The launch of the dashboard followed a thorough data validation process carried out by the DPD’s Internal Affairs Division.

Now live and accessible to the public, the dashboard allows users to explore real-time information about external administrative complaints submitted to both the OCPO and the DPD. Visitors to the site can view complaint types, complainant demographics, how the complaints were investigated, and what the final outcomes were. The tool also offers details on public commendations received by officers and allows residents to explore trends based on fiscal year, city council district, patrol division, and zip code.

“We are proud to officially launch this dashboard and provide our community with a clear, accessible view of community complaint data,” said Police Monitor Michele Andre. “This tool represents our commitment to transparency and accountability. It ensures that residents not only have access to information but can easily understand how the complaint process works and how their concerns are handled.”

The Transparency & Accountability Dashboard is available to the public now and can be accessed at the official OCPO website. With this new initiative, Dallas strengthens its ongoing efforts to create open lines of communication between law enforcement and the community it serves.
