City of Fort Worth invites public input on new photography permit policy

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth’s Park & Recreation Department is calling on photographers from across the community to help shape the future of photography in local parks. A new “Photographers in Parks” focus group will be held in February to collect input from both professionals and hobbyists regarding updates to the city’s photography permit policy.
The current push to revise the policy is driven by concerns about overcrowding, trampling, and long-term sustainability. As more individuals and professionals use public parks for photo sessions, the city hopes to establish a framework that balances artistic expression with environmental protection.
The focus group is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Como Community Center, located at 4660 Horne Street. Attendees will have the chance to share their perspectives on what a fair and functional permitting process might look like, especially when considering usage volume and conservation goals. “Your input will help guide a photography policy and permitting process,” the city explained in its announcement.
This open-invitation event encourages those from all experience levels to speak up, whether they shoot professionally or simply enjoy taking photos as a creative outlet. “Whether you are a full-time pro or a passionate hobbyist, your feedback is essential to shaping a process that works for everyone,” the department noted.
Snacks will be provided during the session, and the event is free to attend. Interested participants are asked to register in advance through the city’s provided link.
By engaging directly with the photography community, Fort Worth hopes to create a policy that is respectful to both artists and the natural spaces they treasure. As officials put it, “Your voice will help us balance the needs of the photography community with the vital mission of land conservation.”
