Deadline approaches for 2024 Tarrant County property tax payments

Fort Worth, Texas – The deadline to pay 2024 property taxes in Tarrant County without incurring penalties and interest is Friday, January 31, 2025. Taxpayers are encouraged to complete their payments before this date to avoid additional charges and potential complications.
Multiple Payment Options Available
All eight Tarrant County Tax Office locations are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST to assist taxpayers with their payments. However, to avoid long lines and last-minute issues, Tax Assessor-Collector Rick D. Barnes urges residents to consider online payment options.
“We encourage taxpayers to pay online whenever possible to avoid the crowds. Online systems become heavily used in the last hour of the day. We suggest taxpayers start the online process earlier in the month to avoid complications and not waiting until January 31st if at all possible,” stated Barnes.
Taxpayers can conveniently pay their property taxes using the following methods:
- Online Payments: Payments can be made at Tarrant County Tax Office. Accepted payment methods include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. While a convenience fee applies to debit and credit card payments, online eCheck payments can be made without an additional fee.
- Phone Payments: The pay-by-phone service is available 24/7 at 817-884-1110, offering the same payment options and fee structures as online payments.
- Mail Payments: Payments sent by mail must be postmarked by January 31, 2025, to avoid penalties and interest. Taxpayers should ensure their payment is processed by the U.S. Postal Service on time.
- In-Person Payments: All Tarrant County Tax Office branches accept payments during regular business hours.
It is important to note that online and phone payments must be completed by 11:59 p.m. CST on January 31, 2025. Any incomplete or pending payments processed after midnight will be posted accordingly.
Assistance and Contact Information
The Tarrant County Tax Office Customer Service Center is available to assist with property tax and motor vehicle inquiries at 817-884-1100, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST. Due to high call volumes, taxpayers may experience delays in speaking with a representative. An alternative method to reach the office is via email at [email protected], with an expected response time of 48 hours.
For further assistance regarding branch locations or tax payment details, taxpayers can visit the Tarrant County Tax Office website or contact the Customer Service Center.
Partial Payments Encouraged
Barnes emphasized that taxpayers who are unable to pay the full amount by the deadline should consider making partial payments. “The Tarrant County Tax Office encourages citizens who cannot pay in full to make partial payments. Partial payments will be applied and only the remaining balance will be subject to penalties rather than the full original amount due,” he explained.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these flexible payment options to avoid unnecessary penalties and ensure their taxes are paid on time.
