Trinity Metro unveils major transportation expansion plan ahead of world soccer tournament in North Texas

Fort Worth, Texas – Trinity Metro is preparing a major transportation expansion plan ahead of the upcoming world soccer tournament in North Texas, with officials aiming to handle a sharp increase in visitors traveling between Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas, and DFW International Airport.

Transit leaders say the agency has spent years coordinating with regional organizations and tournament partners to prepare for the international event, which is expected to bring massive crowds and heavy travel demand across the region.

Under the enhanced mobility plan, Trinity Metro will increase service during busy travel periods, adjust schedules around matches and fan events, and deploy additional vehicles and operational support throughout the tournament period.

Officials said the goal is not only to serve visitors attending tournament activities but also to maintain reliable transportation for regular Trinity Metro riders throughout North Texas.

“This is one of the largest international events North Texas has hosted, and Trinity Metro is prepared to move people safely and efficiently on the Trinity Metro system,” said Rich Andreski, president and CEO of Trinity Metro.

Expanded Transit Connections Planned Across North Texas

The transit agency’s plan includes several expanded transportation options designed to connect visitors to stadium events, entertainment districts, airports, and tourist attractions.

One major part of the plan involves enhanced Trinity Railway Express service between Fort Worth and CentrePort Station. Tournament visitors traveling to Arlington stadium activities will be able to connect with transportation services coordinated by the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee.

Officials also announced expanded TRE service connecting Fort Worth riders to Dallas Fan Fest events through links with DART light rail services.

Meanwhile, TEXRail service will continue providing transportation between downtown Fort Worth and DFW International Airport, helping visitors arriving by air travel throughout the region more easily.

Trinity Metro also plans to launch a new limited-time motorcoach shuttle system known as the Cowtown Visitor Shuttle.

The special shuttle service will provide transportation between Fort Worth destinations and Arlington’s Entertainment District, creating additional travel options for visitors exploring North Texas outside of match activities.

New Visitor Shuttle Will Connect Major Attractions

According to officials, the Cowtown Visitor Shuttle will connect many of the region’s most recognized attractions and entertainment destinations.

Stops in Fort Worth will include the Stockyards, Sundance Square, the Cultural District, the Fort Worth Zoo, and the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

In Arlington, visitors will have access to attractions including Texas Live!, Globe Life Field, Six Flags Over Texas, and the National Medal of Honor Museum.

Additional stops are also planned at Tanger Outlets, Buc-ee’s, and other shopping, dining, and entertainment destinations across both cities.

On matchdays, Trinity Metro said enhanced TRE service will begin operating up to six hours before kickoff and continue up to three hours after games end to help manage large post-match crowds returning to surrounding cities.

Officials say the expanded service is also part of a broader effort to position Fort Worth as a key tourism destination during the tournament, especially for visitors not attending matches every day.

“Fort Worth offers visitors an experience distinct from any other city in the region,” said Mitch Whitten, president and CEO of Visit Fort Worth. “Fans can experience authentic Texas culture, hospitality and attractions while using Trinity Metro to move throughout the area.”

Transit leaders believe the upgraded transportation network will help reduce traffic congestion while improving mobility across one of the busiest periods North Texas has experienced in years.

Additional route details and service information are expected to be made available online as the tournament approaches.
