Dallas residents and contractors advised of service interruptions before DallasNow goes live

Dallas, Texas – The City of Dallas is preparing to roll out DallasNow, a new all-in-one online system designed to simplify and modernize city services related to planning and development. The new platform officially launches on May 5, 2025, and will replace the current system that handles permitting, zoning, inspections, engineering reviews, and more.
As the city transitions to this updated system, online services will be unavailable from Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, May 4. This includes all online permitting, engineering reviews, payments, and scheduling services. In addition, many in-person services offered by the Planning & Development Department will also be limited during this time.
Despite the downtime, critical operations will continue with limited availability, including:
-
Inspections
-
Emergency Releases
-
Consultations
To help ease the impact of the transition, the Permit Service Center at the Oak Cliff Municipal Center will offer extended hours from April 14 to April 24, staying open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This will give customers additional time to complete urgent tasks before the temporary shutdown begins.
Once launched, DallasNow will be a cloud-based platform that unifies multiple city processes into one easy-to-use system. Property owners, developers, and contractors will be able to apply for permits, track applications, and review inspection results all online, with access to real-time updates, permit details, and itemized fee breakdowns.
“Both city staff and customers will need time to adjust, but once fully implemented, this will be a game-changer for how Dallas handles permitting, zoning and inspections,” said Vernon Young, Deputy Director of Planning & Development.
