Jessica Rogers selected to head Fort Worth economic development efforts beginning mid September

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth has announced the appointment of Jessica Rogers as its next Economic Development Director. Currently serving as Assistant City Manager in Tomball, Texas, Rogers brings a proven record in advancing business growth, attracting investment, and driving community development initiatives.

A Strong Background in City Growth and Innovation

Jessica Rogers has spent years honing her expertise in city planning, strategic development, and business engagement. During her time in Tomball, she oversaw several operational and strategic initiatives that contributed to the city’s economic vitality. Before that, she led major efforts in the City of Denton as the Director of Economic Development, where she implemented innovative incentive programs, cultivated key public-private partnerships, and created a long-term economic strategic plan that brought lasting benefits to the community.

Her professional background also includes work with the City of Dickinson, Texas, and the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation in Indiana, where she helped guide local economies toward greater investment and innovation.

A New Era of Leadership for Fort Worth

In her new role, Rogers will be responsible for guiding Fort Worth’s comprehensive economic development strategy. Her work will include focusing on business recruitment and retention, workforce development, and supporting the city’s small business sector. She will also be tasked with creating a more diverse and resilient economy, in partnership with the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership.

“Jessica’s proven leadership and track record in economic development make her the ideal choice to help Fort Worth achieve its ambitious goals,” said City Manager Jay Chapa. “We look forward to seeing the impact she will have in growing our economy and supporting our community.”

Rogers, too, expressed optimism and readiness for the challenge ahead. “I’m looking forward to joining the outstanding team at the City of Fort Worth and I’m excited to begin collaborating with the Economic Development Partnership and others to bolster business growth, attract new investment to Fort Worth and build economic vitality,” she said. “Fort Worth already has an excellent track record in creating economic development and smart growth, and I am ready to get started to further that vital work.”

Educational and Professional Affiliations

Rogers earned a master’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. She is also a committed member of both the International City/County Management Association and the Texas City Management Association, which speak to her dedication to public service and city governance.

Rogers is set to officially begin her role in Fort Worth on September 15. City officials are optimistic that her leadership will help accelerate Fort Worth’s trajectory as a hub of innovation, economic opportunity, and smart city planning. With a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience, Rogers is expected to play a central role in shaping the city’s future.
