Fort Worth announces office closures and service adjustments for Labor Day holiday on September 1

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth has announced that most municipal offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. While offices and many services will pause for the day, emergency services will remain available without interruption.

Solid Waste Services

Residents will not see any changes to their normal trash and recycling schedules. Garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk items will all be collected as usual. However, the four City Drop-Off Stations and the Environmental Collection Center will be closed on September 1. Questions about solid waste services can be directed to 817-392-1234.

Libraries and Recreation

All Fort Worth libraries will be closed on September 1 and will reopen during regular hours on September 2. Community centers, the Haws Athletic Center, and the Log Cabin Village will also be closed for the holiday. Other recreational amenities, however, will remain open, including golf courses, McLeland Tennis Center, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Fort Worth Water Gardens, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, Marine Park Pool, and Forest Park Pool.

Water Utility Services

For water customers, the 24-hour call center will be available for payments, account inquiries, or to report emergencies. Residents can reach the Water Department by calling 817-392-4477.

Public Transit Adjustments

Public transportation will operate on a modified schedule for the holiday. Trinity Metro buses and Trinity Metro On-Demand paratransit services will follow Sunday schedules on September 1. Trinity Metro TEXRail and Trinity Metro On-Demand rideshare services will operate on their regular schedules. However, Trinity Railway Express, TRE LINK, and the CentrePort Circulator will not operate.

Customer service representatives will be available by phone at 817-215-8600 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Fort Worth Central Station kiosk will be closed for the day.

As Fort Worth residents prepare for the Labor Day holiday, the city encourages the public to plan ahead for office closures, adjusted transit schedules, and limited availability of certain recreational and waste facilities. With essential services in place and recreational amenities open, families will still have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the holiday while staying informed about service changes.
