Anonymous Fort Worth player wins $1,000,004 Powerball prize with ticket purchased at local QuikTrip

Fort Worth, Texas – A Fort Worth resident is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after claiming a Powerball prize worth $1,000,004 from the drawing held on Jan. 14, according to lottery officials. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, secured the second-tier prize with a single ticket purchased locally.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought at QuikTrip #1876, located at 10200 W. Freeway in Fort Worth. Officials confirmed the ticket matched all five white ball numbers drawn that night — 6, 24, 39, 43, and 51 — but did not match the red Powerball number, which was 2. In addition to the seven-figure prize, the same ticket also carried a $4 additional win, bringing the total payout to $1,000,004.

How the winning numbers lined up

Powerball’s second-tier prize is awarded when a ticket matches the five white balls but misses the red Powerball. While falling just short of the jackpot, the prize still ranks among the game’s biggest standard payouts and is often described by officials as a “near miss” that still delivers a massive reward.

The game itself is operated by Powerball, one of the most popular lottery games in the country. Grand prizes currently start at $20 million and continue to roll over until a jackpot-winning ticket is sold.

To win the Powerball Grand Prize, players must match five numbers from a field of 69 and one Powerball number from a field of 26. Players can also add Power Play for an extra $1 per play, which allows non-jackpot prizes to be multiplied by two, three, four, five, or even 10 times, depending on the multiplier drawn.

Lottery officials note that a Power Play Match Five (5+0) prize is set at $2,000,000, regardless of which Power Play number is selected. All other non-Grand Prizes are multiplied by the Power Play number drawn. The 10X Power Play multiplier is only available when the initially advertised annuitized jackpot is $150 million or less.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week — every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday — and are broadcast at 10:12 p.m. CT.

While the Fort Worth winner kept their identity private, the ticket’s success is another reminder that major Powerball wins can happen anywhere, often from a single Quick Pick ticket purchased during an ordinary stop.
