Man charged with murder after fatal shooting on Dallas Fort Worth Service Turnpike
Dallas, Texas – A deadly shooting along a busy Dallas roadway has led to a murder charge after police quickly located and arrested a suspect connected to the incident.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed that officers were called to the 4400 block of Dallas Fort Worth Service Turnpike on March 31, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they began an initial investigation into what had taken place.
According to early findings, 28-year-old Erick Artea Lerma had been shot during the incident. Police identified 32-year-old Anthony Rios Rivera as the suspected shooter, noting that he fled the scene before officers were able to arrive.

Emergency crews from Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, Artea Lerma was pronounced dead at the location. The shooting turned the area into an active crime scene as investigators worked to gather evidence and understand the events leading up to the violence.
Authorities later located Rios Rivera and took him into custody without further incident. He has since been booked into jail and is facing a murder charge in connection with the shooting.
Police have not yet released additional details about what led to the encounter or whether the individuals involved knew each other. The case remains under active investigation as detectives continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
