Fort Worth launches NextGen Ambassador Program offering paid opportunities for students this summer

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth is opening the door for young people to gain real-world experience in public service, as applications are now available for the 2026 NextGen Ambassador Program.
City officials say the program is designed to give students a closer look at how local government works while also helping them build skills that can support future careers. The eight-week program is scheduled to run from June 2 through July 24, offering participants a structured and hands-on experience during the summer.
Paid opportunity offers insight into public service careers
The NextGen Ambassador Program is open to students between the ages of 17 and 22. Those selected will receive paid employment, with the opportunity to work up to 20 hours per week throughout the program. Officials say this combination of earning income while learning valuable skills makes the program especially appealing for young participants.
During the program, students will explore different career paths within local government. Participants will be introduced to the daily operations of city departments, giving them a better understanding of how services are delivered and how decisions are made at the local level.
In addition to on-the-job experience, the program includes sessions focused on professional growth. These sessions are designed to strengthen key skills such as communication, teamwork, and workplace readiness. Organizers say the goal is to prepare students not only for potential roles in government, but also for a wide range of careers beyond the public sector.
Applications for the program are currently open and must be submitted online by April 7. City officials encourage interested students to apply early and take advantage of the opportunity.
For those seeking additional information or needing assistance with the application process, questions can be directed to the program’s official email at [email protected].
With a focus on education, experience, and career exploration, the NextGen Ambassador Program continues to provide a meaningful pathway for young people looking to step into the workforce and learn more about serving their communities.
