Emergency shelters in Fort Worth prepare to serve those in need as temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend

Fort Worth, Texas – With cold temperatures expected to settle in on Sunday evening, the City of Fort Worth has announced resources to help protect individuals experiencing homelessness. Local shelters and emergency services are mobilizing to ensure no one is left without a safe, warm place to stay during the cold snap.

Regular Emergency Shelter Options

Fort Worth’s regular emergency shelters are prepared to provide warmth and safety to those in need. Individuals seeking shelter can head to the Presbyterian Night Shelter at 2400 Cypress Street or the Union Gospel Mission at 1321 E. Lancaster Avenue. Families with at least one parent and one child are encouraged to visit The Salvation Army at 1855 E. Lancaster Avenue for assistance.

Overflow Shelters for Emergency Needs

To accommodate high demand during extreme weather, overflow shelters will be activated when necessary. If the Presbyterian Night Shelter or Union Gospel Mission reach full capacity, individuals will be relocated to overflow shelters with available beds. This ensures everyone seeking shelter is accommodated. Residents can call 311 and press 9 to check whether overflow shelters have been activated.

Daytime Resources for the Homeless

During the daytime, True Worth Place at 1513 E. Presidio Street serves as the primary resource for adults experiencing homelessness. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., True Worth Place provides a safe environment for individuals to stay warm and access critical services.

For additional details on local resources and services for the homeless, visit the City of Fort Worth webpage. Fort Worth’s coordinated efforts aim to ensure everyone has a warm and secure place during the coldest days.
