Governor Greg Abbott highlights recent success in border security efforts with over one hundred arrests
Texas – The State of Texas, under the leadership of Governor Greg Abbott, continues its intense crackdown on illegal immigration through Operation Lone Star, a multi-agency effort aimed at securing the border and dismantling transnational criminal activity. The latest success in this operation took place at Colony Ridge, where Texas law enforcement, in collaboration with the Trump Administration, arrested 118 individuals involved in illegal border activity.
Texas Law Enforcement Cracks Down on Illegal Immigration
Governor Abbott, alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard, has remained steadfast in border security efforts, working to stop the smuggling of drugs, weapons, and people into Texas. As part of Operation Lone Star, these agencies have successfully apprehended over 531,500 illegal immigrants and made more than 51,000 criminal arrests, including 43,700 felony charges.
The fight against the fentanyl crisis has also been a major focus of the operation. Texas law enforcement has seized over 625 million lethal doses of fentanyl, an amount large enough to kill every person in the United States, Mexico, and Canada combined.
Colony Ridge Operation Leads to 118 Arrests
On Tuesday, Governor Abbott took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to highlight a homeland security operation at Colony Ridge, which was conducted in coordination with the Trump Administration. During this operation, DPS troopers assisted federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in making 118 arrests.
“Texas will continue to partner with the Trump Administration in homeland and border security operations,” Abbott emphasized, reinforcing his commitment to strengthening border enforcement.
The Impact of Operation Lone Star
Governor Abbott and Texas law enforcement officials argue that every arrest and every drug seizure under Operation Lone Star is preventing harm to communities across the state and the nation. They believe that without these efforts, dangerous individuals and deadly substances would freely flow into Texas due to what they call ‘open border policies.’
With ongoing partnerships with federal agencies, Texas is determined to maintain its aggressive stance on border security, continuing efforts to prevent illegal crossings, combat drug trafficking, and protect the lives of Texans.
