Citywide expansion of tool lending program gives every Fort Worth household a chance to maintain their property

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth has officially expanded its Mobile Tool Shed program, making free yard maintenance tool rentals available to every household in the city. Originally launched as a pilot in three neighborhoods, the program’s success prompted city leaders to approve a citywide rollout, with the goal of helping more residents maintain their properties without the burden of purchasing expensive equipment.

“I am very excited for the citywide expansion of our Mobile Tool Shed,” said Code Compliance Director Brian Daugherty. “Our citizens now have access to the resources to fix their code violations or beautify their home with just a few clicks.”

The program provides a wide range of tools including lawn mowers, string trimmers, edgers, and power washers—all available at no cost. By removing both financial and transportation hurdles, city officials hope to empower residents to maintain cleaner, safer neighborhoods.

“Keeping Fort Worth beautiful starts at home,” Daugherty added. “By giving residents free access to tools, we’re not only helping people maintain their yards, we’re also investing in the health and safety of our neighborhoods.”

Easy Access and Weekend Flexibility

Residents can easily schedule a tool delivery by signing up online or by calling 817-392-1234. Tools are delivered to the resident’s address every Friday and picked up the following Monday, providing a full weekend to complete yard work or tackle other exterior home improvement projects. All tools are lent out on a first-come, first-served basis, so early reservations are encouraged.

This expanded effort is supported not only by the City of Fort Worth but also by key community partners such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and other local organizations that help supply and maintain the tools used in the program.

Residents looking to participate or learn more about what’s available can visit the Mobile Tool Shed webpage or follow the Fort Worth Code Compliance Department on social media for updates and announcements.

By giving every Fort Worth resident a chance to take better care of their homes, the city hopes to cultivate pride, reduce code violations, and create more vibrant and livable communities—one tool loan at a time.
