Texas veterans invited to take part in this November’s Hiring Red White and You career fairs across the state

Austin, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott is once again calling on Texas veterans, active service members, and their spouses to take part in the annual Hiring Red, White & You! statewide job fair. Scheduled to run from November 4 through November 20, the event aims to connect Texas’ military-connected community with job opportunities in both public and private sectors.
“The talent of our brave veterans who answered the call to serve our nation is a large part of the Texas economic engine,” said Governor Abbott. “The skills and mission-driven mindset of our veterans brings a competitive advantage to any business in our state. This November, I urge all Texas veterans and military families to attend a Hiring Red, White, & You! event.”
A Decade of Service Through Employment
Hosted by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Hiring Red, White & You! is in its 13th year and continues to serve as a vital bridge between job seekers with military backgrounds and Texas employers. The event is held in partnership with Texas Workforce Solutions, the Texas Veterans Commission, and the Texas Medical Center. In 2025, more than 30 in-person hiring events are set to take place in communities throughout the state.
Since its launch in 2012, the initiative has connected over 153,000 job seekers, including 52,500 veterans, with more than 26,000 employers. Notably, the hiring fairs have also facilitated over 4,300 same-day hires, offering a direct pathway for many veterans and their families to start new careers almost immediately.
Free Participation and Business Incentives
Employers can take part in Hiring Red, White & You! events at no cost and are encouraged to reach out to their local Workforce Solutions Office to register. Companies that hire veterans may also qualify for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which can offer up to $9,600 in federal tax benefits per qualifying veteran hired.
In addition, the WeHireVets initiative continues to recognize businesses where at least 10% of the workforce is made up of veterans, further reinforcing the state’s commitment to championing military talent in the workplace.
Leadership Emphasizes Veteran Support
TWC officials emphasized the importance of prioritizing the needs of veterans during their transition to civilian life.
“It’s important that we continue to serve those who served, and do so with priority, resources, and commitment,” said TWC Chairman Joe Esparza. “From navigating the transition to civilian life to connecting with meaningful careers, Hiring Red, White & You! events make a difference in the lives of veterans across Texas.”
“Thank you to our veterans who have served our country,” added TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Treviño III. “Texas is home to more than 1.7 million veterans and active service members whose skills and experience are crucial contributors to the state’s economic success.”
TWC Commissioner Representing the Public Brent Connett also praised the impact of the initiative: “Texas recognizes the invaluable skills and experience that veterans bring, not only to the workforce but to every aspect of our community. TWC’s annual Hiring Red, White & You! job fairs continue to successfully connect Texas veterans, transitioning military personnel, and their spouses with rewarding careers, and the Texas economy is brighter and stronger because of veterans’ successes.”
