Registration now open for Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair providing free support for families across the city

Dallas, Texas – Thousands of Dallas families are expected to once again receive free school supplies, health services, and back-to-school support after Eric L. Johnson officially opened registration for the 30th Annual Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair, one of the city’s largest yearly community events focused on helping students prepare for the upcoming academic year.

Mayor Johnson announced the launch during a press conference at Dallas City Hall that included event sponsors, community partners, and several local mascots helping celebrate the milestone anniversary. The fair has become a major tradition in Dallas, bringing together businesses, nonprofits, city departments, volunteers, and community leaders to support local children and families before classes begin.

This year’s fair is scheduled to take place on August 7 inside the Automobile Building and Centennial Hall at Fair Park.

For the 30th annual event, Mayor Johnson announced a partnership with All Stars Project of Dallas, which will help lead and power the fair. The city is also continuing its partnership with Junior League of Dallas for a fourth consecutive year to recruit, organize, and manage volunteers.

“The Mayor’s Back to School Fair is one of the most important events we do each year because it delivers real results for Dallas families,” said Mayor Johnson. “Every year, the Dallas community—including City government, businesses, nonprofits, and residents—comes together to make sure every kid in our city has what they need to start the school year ready to learn and ready to succeed.”

Thousands Of Students Receive Help Every Year

Organizers said the event serves more than 10,000 young people annually by providing free supplies and important services that many families may otherwise struggle to afford before the school year begins.

Students attending the fair can receive free school supplies along with access to immunizations, dental screenings, vision exams, haircuts, and other support services offered by more than 100 participating vendors and organizations.

The fair is open to Dallas residents and families with students enrolled in Dallas Independent School District. Officials said priority registration will be given to households whose income falls at or below the 2025 Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Families can register now through July 26 at the fair’s official website. Event organizers are also encouraging residents to follow the Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair Facebook page for updates leading up to the event.

Leaders involved with this year’s partnerships said the fair goes beyond simply handing out supplies and instead creates opportunities for students to feel supported and confident heading into a new school year.

“I’m honored, on behalf of the All Stars Project, to partner with the Mayor’s Office and the Junior League of Dallas to lead this year’s Mayor’s Back to School Fair. For 30 years, this event has brought Dallas together around young people and families—and this year we’re building on that legacy. Our work is rooted in the developmental power of performance—helping young people grow in confidence and see new possibilities for themselves. The Fair is a stage where young people can step into their potential and where the whole city shows up to support them,” said Antoine Joyce-Roach, Senior Vice President and City Leader for the All Stars Project of Dallas.

Hundreds Of Volunteers Needed For Massive Event

Organizers are also seeking additional community support ahead of the August fair. Opportunities remain available for sponsors, vendors, and volunteers interested in participating in the event.

The deadline to register as a vendor is July 13, while volunteers have until July 19 to sign up. Sponsors can donate here. Vendors can register here, and volunteers can sign up here.

Officials with the Junior League of Dallas said nearly 500 volunteers are expected to help operate this year’s event, continuing a partnership they say has become deeply meaningful to the organization.

“As both a Dallas ISD parent and someone who works in education every day, I know how important it is for students to begin the school year feeling prepared, confident, and supported,” said Dr. Lindsay Davis, president of the Junior League of Dallas. “The Mayor’s Back to School Fair helps make that possible for thousands of Dallas families, and the Junior League of Dallas is incredibly proud to power this effort through the recruitment, training, and management of nearly 500 volunteers. Four years into this partnership, it remains one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in students, families, and the future of our city.”

This year’s title sponsors include Walmart and Sam’s Club. Additional sponsors include Target, Amazon, Oncor, Energy Transfer, Atmos Energy, Dallas Police Department, and several other organizations and community partners helping support the event.
