Governor Abbott announces federal disaster assistance expansion to help more Texas flooded counties

Burnet, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the federal government has expanded President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration to include five more Texas counties impacted by the recent devastating floods. The addition of Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green counties makes them eligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance program.

“President Trump’s approval of my request to add more counties to his disaster declaration is another critical step to get Texans the support they need to recover,” said Governor Abbott. “Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green counties are now eligible for crucial public assistance to rebuild. I thank President Trump for swiftly approving my request to approve these additional counties. Texas continues to work around-the-clock to help every impacted community heal and rebuild.”

Counties Now Eligible for FEMA Support

With this update, the counties approved for FEMA’s Public Assistance program now include Burnet, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, and Tom Green counties. This program provides assistance for emergency work, as well as the repair or replacement of public infrastructure and facilities damaged by the disaster.

Governor Abbott’s office noted that more counties may be added as further damage assessments are completed and more information is gathered from impacted areas.

Individual Assistance Still Available for Qualifying Texans

Additionally, Texans in Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties remain eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. This support is meant to help individuals and households with critical needs, repairs, and temporary housing.

Texans in these counties can apply for FEMA disaster assistance by visiting disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. State and federal officials continue working closely to assess the situation and ensure all affected communities receive the help they need as recovery efforts continue.
