Texas GOP Congressman Brandon Gill warns America could look like “the worst parts of New York City” if AOC gains more power

Texas – Texas Republican Rep. Brandon Gill launched a blistering attack on New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during a fiery Fox News appearance, warning viewers that America could begin to resemble “the worst parts of New York City” if the progressive Democrat gains more political influence in the years ahead.

Gill’s comments came during an interview on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle,” where guest host Rachel Campos-Duffy raised growing speculation that Ocasio-Cortez may be preparing for a possible presidential campaign in 2028 as Democrats continue searching for a future national leader.

Campos-Duffy argued that the Democratic Party appears increasingly divided and suggested that Ocasio-Cortez is positioning herself as the face of its next generation. “This is the sorry state of the Democrats today,” Campos-Duffy said. “Kamala Harris can’t get a full-throated endorsement from members of her own party. And AOC is openly positioning herself as the ideological future of the movement.”

Gill responded by saying he not only believes Ocasio-Cortez may run for president, but that he would actually welcome it politically. “Well, I think and I hope that she is,” Gill said. “In fact, you know, she may have higher political ambitions in true Marxist fashion. Perhaps, she’s looking towards a global communist revolution, something that transcends even what’s happening in the United States. I don’t know. But I would love to see her running.”

The Texas congressman then launched into a sweeping criticism of Ocasio-Cortez’s political record, portraying her as one of the Democratic Party’s leading progressive voices on immigration, policing, taxes, and government expansion. “You know, AOC is somebody who has been on the forefront of left-wing politics for a long time now,” Gill said. “She was a cheerleader for every single crazy left-wing policy that Democrats were promoting, whether it was open borders, or defunding local police departments, or defunding ICE agencies, or transing four-year-olds, or raising taxes, raising regulation.” “That’s what AOC stands for,” he continued. “And I don’t think that’s something the American people want anything to do with.”

Warnings About America’s Future

As the conversation intensified, Campos-Duffy shifted attention toward conditions inside Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional district in New York, claiming the area reflected broader problems tied to progressive governance. “I’ve been to her district, Congressman. It is filthy,” Campos-Duffy said. “It’s full of crime. There are prostitutes turning tricks at like 10:00 a.m. or 8 a.m. while kids are walking by on their way to school.”

She questioned how Ocasio-Cortez could present herself as someone capable of transforming the country when, in her view, conditions inside her own district remain troubled.

The discussion later moved toward foreign policy after the program aired clips of Ocasio-Cortez speaking in Munich about Taiwan and possible military commitments abroad. The exchange quickly became another opening for Gill to challenge her leadership credentials. “Well, I think she doesn’t want to get on this on the other side of her ideological leaders in China,” Gill said.

He then broadened his argument into a larger warning aimed directly at voters nationwide. “The question for Americans, I think that they have to ask is, do you want the rest of the country to look like San Francisco or some of the worst parts of New York City?” Gill asked. “Because that’s exactly what AOC would would bring to your local community,” he continued. “You would see more homeless people, more drugs, more crime, more illegal aliens, more poverty, and that’s what the Democrat party stands for.”

The comments reflect how Republicans are increasingly framing Ocasio-Cortez as both a political target and a symbol of where they believe the Democratic Party is heading ideologically.

Young Voters and the Socialist Debate

One of the most revealing parts of the interview centered on younger voters, many of whom Republicans acknowledge are increasingly drawn toward progressive economic ideas and social policies.

Campos-Duffy pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez maintains a massive social media following and continues building influence among younger Americans despite fierce Republican criticism. “But there’s a lot of young people moving in that direction,” Campos-Duffy said. “They are very attracted to the socialists agenda and this promise of free and utopia.”

Gill argued that Democrats are misleading younger Americans by presenting expansive government programs as generosity while, in his view, damaging their long-term economic future. “Well, I think Democrats want to frame this as giving something to young people that maybe young people didn’t have when the reality is the precise opposite,” Gill said.

“The reality is that Democrats have been fighting to take away young people’s birthright by flooding our country with illegal aliens who are hopping on welfare that young people are working to pay for,” he added. “That’s the message and that’s the policy that the Democratic Party’s created.”

The exchange underscored a growing national divide over the future direction of American politics. While Ocasio-Cortez continues gaining influence among progressive activists and younger voters, Republicans like Gill are increasingly trying to turn her into a warning sign for swing voters ahead of future national elections.

With early speculation already surrounding the 2028 presidential race, the sharp rhetoric surrounding Ocasio-Cortez suggests she may remain one of the party’s top political targets long before any official campaign begins.
