Dallas Love Field relocates ground transportation pick-up area for enhanced service
Dallas, Texas – Starting January 3, 2025, Dallas Love Field will implement a new ground transportation pick-up area to better serve providers and customers. The relocation of this area will move from Garage B to the valet pavilion and Garage C on the southeast side of the terminal. This update impacts app-based rideshares, such as Lyft, Uber, and Wingz, along with taxis, limousines, and on-demand vehicles. The new pick-up zones aim to streamline operations and provide passengers with a more organized and efficient transportation experience.
Details of the Relocation
Passengers requiring app-based rideshare services will now head to the reconfigured valet pavilion, while those seeking taxis, limousines, or on-demand pick-ups will be directed to Garage C Level One, adjacent to the valet pavilion. The updated system will involve an approximate six-minute walk for passengers to reach their rides.
Key changes include:
- App-Based Rideshares: Passengers and drivers will meet at the valet pavilion.
- Taxis, Limousines, and On-Demand Services: Pick-ups will occur on Level One of Garage C.
- Transportation Provider Protocols: Drivers must stage in the designated TNC (Transportation Network Company) holding lot and use marked spaces for pick-ups. Repeated violations will result in penalties.
- Special Assistance: Passengers requiring accessible transportation can continue to use the lower-level curb for pick-ups.
- Valet Services: Valet customers will use the second farthest right lane on Herb Kelleher Way to enter the valet pavilion, while transportation providers will use the farthest right lane for pick-ups.
Enhancements from the Project
The six-month project involved repurposing existing parking spaces in the valet pavilion and Garage C to accommodate the new pick-up areas. Improvements included retrofitting curbs, replacing striping, modifying traffic light schedules, reconfiguring lobby and waiting areas, and adding signage to ensure smooth navigation for passengers and drivers. These updates were based on a thorough analysis conducted by the Department of Aviation, which determined that the valet pavilion and Garage C Level One were the most efficient locations due to their proximity to the terminal and ease of implementation.
Improved Travel Experience
Dallas Love Field’s relocation project reflects its commitment to enhancing the customer and provider experience. By creating a more organized and efficient pick-up process, the airport aims to better accommodate the growing demand for ground transportation services and ensure smoother operations for all stakeholders. Passengers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new system ahead of the January 3 transition.
