Pennsylvania-based discount retailer Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is expanding in North Texas, two new stores coming this week
Dallas, Texas – Taking over areas once occupied by 99 Cents Only stores, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet has announced the launch of two new stores in North Texas in a landmark retail expansion. These additional stores fit a bigger strategy to open 10 more sites around Texas, therefore strengthening the chain’s footprint in the state.

The new North Texas outlets are at 410 E. Camp Wisdom Road in Duncanville and 3632 Frankford Road in Dallas. The stores are set to open their doors on Thursday; daily business hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. These openings are expected to boost Ollie’s presence in the Dallas and Fort Worth regions, thus bringing the total to 11 sites in Dallas and 50 across Texas.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, a Pennsylvania-based discount retailer known for selling a wide array of closeout merchandise and excess inventory, offers products ranging from books and flooring to food, housewares, toys, electronics, and health and beauty items. The development follows the bankruptcy announcement by 99 Cents Only Stores in April, which resulted in multiple Texas properties being turned into either Ollie’s or Dollar General stores.
John Swygert, CEO of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, expressed excitement about the expansion:
“We are incredibly excited to open ten more stores in the great state of Texas where the folks have been so good to us,” said Swygert in a news release. “With the closing of 99₵ Stores throughout the state, we’re thrilled to provide shoppers in the Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and McAllen areas with a treasure hunt experience where they can find a huge selection of brand name bargains at prices that won’t break the bank!”
The expansion is not just good news for bargain hunters but also for the local economy. Each new store is expected to create 50-60 new jobs, contributing to local employment opportunities and boost the local economy. The bankruptcy processes included the company’s successful bid in May to purchase 11 former 99 Cents Only stores in Texas. In a related move, Dollar Tree bought leases for 170 99 Cents Only businesses in Nevada, Arizona, Texas, and California.
Established in 1982, Ollie’s has expanded significantly. The brand is now running about 500 stores throughout 31 states, evidence of its successful business strategy of offering discounted, overstocked, and closeout merchandise from many high-end brands. By providing outstanding value to customers trying to stretch their money further in an often difficult economic situation, this approach has let Ollie’s grow and further strengthen its position on the market.
