Governor Abbott celebrates grand opening of Corrigan OSB facility, touts Texas manufacturing

Corrigan, Texas – Texas Governor Greg Abbott marked the grand opening of the new Corrigan OSB, LLC facility with a ceremony highlighting Texas’ thriving manufacturing sector and its impact on the state’s economy. The event, held in Corrigan, brought together local officials, business leaders, and members of the community to celebrate the facility’s significance for both the local area and the state.

“We are proud that Texas is home to a booming manufacturing sector,” said Governor Abbott. “Corrigan OSB’s expanded manufacturing facility will be the largest OSB facility in all of North America. It will provide needed, high-quality building materials to Texas’ growing economy. Thanks to our strong manufacturing sector, ‘Made in Texas’ has never been a bigger brand.”

A Major Investment in Texas’ Future

The new Corrigan OSB facility, representing a $211 million expansion, is expected to be a key contributor to the state’s growing economy. Governor Abbott praised the investment, calling it “an important piece in the economy of a bigger, better Texas.”

Abbott also emphasized the role of the state’s favorable business climate and skilled workforce in attracting top companies. “The Texas economy continues to thrive because of reasonable regulations and the support we provide to businesses,” the Governor said. He also pointed to Texas’ young and diverse workforce as a major asset that appeals to employers worldwide.

The ceremony featured a tour of the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, where Corrigan OSB will produce oriented strand board (OSB) materials for construction. Abbott noted the facility’s importance in providing high-quality building materials for Texas’ expanding economy.

Texas Enterprise Fund Grant Boosts Corrigan OSB Expansion

Corrigan OSB received a Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $278,000 in 2021, which included a $3,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. The TEF program supports business expansions that promote job creation and economic growth. The Governor highlighted the significance of the investment and the state’s commitment to fostering business development through such initiatives.

Abbott also reflected on Texas’ long-standing reputation as a top destination for businesses. “For 20 years in a row, CEOs have ranked Texas as the Best State for Business,” he remarked, underscoring the state’s appeal for Fortune 500 companies.

Community Leaders Celebrate the Opening

Several officials and community leaders joined Abbott at the grand opening, including RoyOMartin Chairman and CEO Roy Martin, Polk County Judge Sydney Murphy, Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons, and Corrigan Mayor Johnna Gibson. Their presence highlighted the importance of the facility not just for Corrigan, but for the region as a whole.
