City of Dallas announces closures and service adjustments for Thanksgiving holiday 2024
Dallas, Texas – In observance of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 28, 2024, the City of Dallas has announced the closure of various offices and facilities. Adjustments to services have also been outlined to ensure the holiday is observed smoothly while accommodating residents’ needs.
Facility Closures and Service Adjustments
Animal Services
Dallas Animal Services will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and will resume normal operations the following day.
Dallas Park and Recreation
The administrative offices, maintenance facilities, and recreation centers operated by Dallas Park and Recreation will be closed on November 28 and November 29 for Thanksgiving. Recreation centers will reopen on Saturday, November 30, while administrative offices and maintenance facilities will resume normal operations on Monday, December 2.
Dallas Public Libraries
All Dallas Public Library locations will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 and remain closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. Dallas Water Utilities
The administrative and customer service offices of Dallas Water Utilities will be closed on November 28 and 29. For emergencies, customers can call 3-1-1. Non-emergency water service requests can be submitted online or via the Dallas 311 mobile app, available for both iOS and Android users.
Municipal Court
The Dallas Municipal Court will be closed on both November 28 and 29, reopening at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Sanitation Services
Garbage and recycling collections scheduled for Thursday, November 28 will occur on Friday, November 29, and Friday’s pickups will take place on Saturday, November 30. Additionally, transfer stations and the landfill will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and reopen on Friday.
