Governor Abbott announces new and continued appointments for Judicial Compensation Commission in Texas
Grand Prairie, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Rodney Anderson and the reappointment of Phil Johnson and Linda Kinney to the Judicial Compensation Commission. These appointments are for terms that will expire on February 1, 2029. The Commission plays a crucial role in recommending appropriate salary levels for justices and judges serving in Texas’ Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, Courts of Appeals, and state district courts.
Rodney Anderson: Bringing Leadership and Business Expertise
Rodney Anderson of Grand Prairie has been appointed to the Commission. He currently serves as the executive vice president and national agency manager for Alliant National Title Insurance Company. Anderson has also held public office, representing Texas House District 105 and House District 106. During his legislative career, he served on several key committees, including Insurance, Elections, International Trade & Intergovernmental Affairs, and Urban Affairs.
Anderson’s commitment to community service is evident through his roles as a board member of Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Irving and the Grand Prairie Family YMCA. He has also served as the president of the Texas Land Title Association and the Rotary Club of Grand Prairie. In addition, Anderson has contributed to the Boy Scouts of America as a fund-raising chair. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Phil Johnson: A Distinguished Legal Career
Phil Johnson of Lubbock, an experienced attorney and former Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, has been reappointed to the Commission. Johnson’s legal career includes serving as Justice and later Chief Justice of the Seventh Court of Appeals. He is a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation, as well as a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Law Institute, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics.
Beyond his legal contributions, Johnson has demonstrated a commitment to public service. He has held leadership roles with organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America – Golden Spread Council, Kiwanis, Southwest Lighthouse for the Blind, Lubbock Area Foundation, and the Lubbock County Legal Aid Society. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Texas Tech University and a Juris Doctor from the Texas Tech University School of Law.
Linda Kinney: Dedicated Public Service
Linda Kinney of Comfort, who has over three decades of public service experience, has been reappointed to the Commission. Kinney previously served two terms on the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority before joining the Judicial Compensation Commission in 2019. Her continued involvement highlights her dedication to ensuring equitable compensation for Texas judges and justices.
