Powerball player in San Antonio falls one number short of winning jackpot

San Antonio, Texas – A lucky San Antonio resident is celebrating a massive lottery win after claiming a $1 million Powerball prize from the January 20 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip #4005, located at 9919 San Pedro Avenue in San Antonio. The claimant, who has chosen to remain anonymous, came extremely close to winning the $20 million jackpot but fell just one digit short.

Just One Number Away from the Jackpot

The fortunate winner had selected their own numbers, matching all five white ball numbers drawn—15, 16, 32, 47, and 54. However, their chosen Powerball number was 7, while the actual Powerball drawn was 6. Had they matched all six numbers, they would have walked away with the full $20 million jackpot. Since no ticket matched all six numbers in that drawing, the jackpot rolled over to an even higher amount for the next draw.

Powerball Grand Prizes start at $20 million and continue growing until someone wins. Players must match five numbers from a pool of 69 and one Powerball number from a pool of 26 to secure the jackpot. Even if they do not hit the grand prize, there are still plenty of ways to win significant amounts.

Power Play Increases Non-Jackpot Winnings

For an extra $1 per play, Powerball players can choose the Power Play feature, which multiplies non-grand prize winnings by two, three, four, five, or even ten times. However, a Power Play match for five numbers (5+0) is automatically set at $2 million, no matter the Power Play number drawn. The 10X Power Play multiplier is only available when the initially advertised jackpot is $150 million or less.

Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:12 p.m. Central Time.

San Antonio Continues Its Lottery Luck

San Antonio has seen its fair share of lottery winners, with this latest Powerball success adding to the city’s growing list of big payouts. As the jackpot continues to climb, more Texas players are hoping to claim the next life-changing prize.

For those looking to try their luck, Powerball tickets are available at licensed lottery retailers across Texas. Players must be 18 years or older to participate, and winners are encouraged to sign the back of their tickets and store them safely until they claim their prize.

While this San Antonio winner came close to taking home the jackpot, their $1 million prize is still a remarkable achievement. With the Powerball jackpot continuing to grow, excitement remains high as players across the state dream of their own big win.
