North Central Texas Council of Governments adds Fort Worth leader to executive board

Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem Carlos Flores has been appointed to the executive board of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), a powerful regional organization responsible for guiding key planning and policy efforts across North Central Texas.

Flores, who has represented Fort Worth’s Council District 2 since June 2017, brings deep community roots and a strong educational background to his new role. “Flores, who has represented Fort Worth’s Council District 2 since June 2017, is a third-generation Fort Worth native.” He graduated from Nolan Catholic High School before pursuing aerospace engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Alongside his technical studies, he also minored in fine arts, demonstrating a broad academic interest. He completed his degree at the University of Texas at Arlington.

In joining the NCTCOG executive board, Flores will help steer regional initiatives that span transportation planning, emergency preparedness, workforce development, and environmental programs. His appointment underscores Fort Worth’s growing influence within the larger North Central Texas region, which includes 16 counties and over 230 member governments.

Burleson Councilmember Victoria Johnson will serve as president of the NCTCOG executive board for the next year after being elected to lead the 17-member board during the 59th annual General Assembly at the Hurst Conference Center. Her leadership marks a continued emphasis on collaboration between growing cities like Burleson and major urban centers like Fort Worth.

Flores’s experience and leadership are expected to contribute significantly as the NCTCOG navigates major challenges and opportunities across the region. His appointment reflects both his personal dedication to civic service and Fort Worth’s continued rise as a major player in regional governance.
