Texas maintains national leadership in business rankings for 22 consecutive years
Austin, Texas – Texas continues to stand out on the national stage as a top destination for companies, marking another year of recognition for its business environment and economic strength. Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state has once again been ranked the Best State for Business by Chief Executive magazine, extending its streak to an impressive 22 consecutive years.
The ranking is based on an annual survey that gathers input from CEOs, business owners, and top executives across the country. These leaders evaluate states on factors such as economic climate, workforce quality, and overall business friendliness. Texas has remained at the top of this list every year since the ranking began, reflecting a long-standing pattern of strong performance.
Economic strength fuels continued recognition
State leaders say the recognition is tied closely to Texas’ continued economic growth and policies aimed at supporting businesses. Recent data shows that the Texas economy reached an estimated $2.9 trillion in 2025, based on figures from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The state also led the nation in economic growth that year, expanding at a rate of 2.5%.
“Texas is where businesses innovate and where opportunity abounds,” said Governor Abbott. “Texas has long dominated the nation as the Best State for Business thanks to our pro-growth policies, world-class workforce, and strategic investments in education, high-demand skills training, and critical infrastructure. We will continue to move at the speed of business as we build a more prosperous Texas for generations to come.”
Business leaders have also taken note of Texas’ consistency in maintaining its top position. The Chief Executive Group, which publishes the ranking, pointed to the difficulty of holding onto the number one spot for so long.
“Truly, this is an incredible run that Texas has going,” said Chief Executive Group Publisher Christopher Chalk. “CEOs are a tough group to please, and yet year after year Texas continues to earn the top spot—no small feat.”
Officials say the state’s focus on job creation, infrastructure, and workforce development has helped attract companies and support expansion. As Texas continues to grow, leaders believe these efforts will remain key to maintaining its reputation as a leading place for business in the years ahead.
