Fort Worth teams up with veteran nonprofit to help service members find meaningful careers

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth has partnered with NextOp, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization, to host the first-ever Employment Workshop and Career Fair. This landmark event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 26, at the Will Rogers Memorial Center – Stagecoach Room, located at 3401 W. Lancaster Ave.
Unlike typical job fairs, this career-focused event is centered around one goal — securing real employment for veterans. Designed with “intentional hiring” in mind, the fair encourages employers to participate in structured, interview-style conversations with post-9/11 enlisted veterans and transitioning military members. Organizers describe the format as “speed dating for jobs” with the aim of producing actual hires, not just handshakes.
Empowering Veterans with Purpose and Pay
NextOp, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015, has helped more than 5,000 veterans nationwide find employment — all at no cost to the veteran. Since expanding into North Texas in June 2024, the organization has already placed over 115 veterans into jobs with an average annual salary of $74,000. That number exceeds their national average of $60,000 and highlights the growing opportunities available in the region.
Veterans in the NextOp program are provided with tailored resume development, interview preparation, and pre-event coaching to ensure they walk into the event prepared and confident.
An Opportunity for Everyone Involved
This event is open not only to veterans in the NextOp program but also to all local veterans and transitioning service members. Participants will have the chance to meet directly with recruiters, hiring managers, and company executives who are ready to offer jobs or schedule follow-up interviews. Many employers are even encouraged to make job offers on the spot.
For employers, this is an opportunity to connect with top-tier talent, demonstrate commitment to hiring veterans, and participate in a hiring process focused on results.
Veteran service organizations (VSOs) will also be present to offer additional resources beyond employment, providing wraparound support that further strengthens veterans’ success in the civilian world.
The Fort Worth–NextOp Employment Workshop and Career Fair promises to be more than just a networking event — it’s a launchpad for long-term careers and community impact. Veterans, employers, and support groups can register online to take part in this event.
