City of Dallas announces road closures and traffic detours for St Patrick’s Day festivities on Greenville Avenue

Dallas, Texas – The City of Dallas has announced extensive road closures, transit adjustments, and safety planning ahead of several large St. Patrick’s Day events scheduled for Saturday, March 14. Officials say the combination of races, parades, concerts, and street festivities could bring more than 90,000 attendees to the Greenville Avenue corridor.
The events include the St. Paddy’s Day Dash Down Greenville, the Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival, the Dallas St. Patrick’s Concert – San Patricio Music Fest, and the St. Patrick’s Day Block Party. With so many activities planned in one area, city officials are urging drivers to plan ahead and avoid the busy Greenville Avenue area if possible.
Major Road Closures and Traffic Changes Expected
Because of the anticipated crowds and pedestrian traffic, road closures will affect Greenville Avenue from Park Lane to Belmont Avenue throughout much of the day. These closures are expected to impact travel between 6:30 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. as thousands gather for the day’s celebrations.
City officials are advising motorists to use alternate routes such as Skillman Street, McMillan Avenue, and Central Expressway when traveling north or south in the area. Residents and businesses located between Central Expressway and Greenville Avenue are also encouraged to enter and exit the neighborhood from streets west of Greenville Avenue.
For those attending the parade or moving through the area on foot, four designated pedestrian crossing points will be available after 1 p.m. at Southwestern Boulevard, Lovers Lane, Milton Street, and University Boulevard.
