Ongoing construction forces new traffic flow at busy intersection in Downtown Dallas

Dallas, Texas – A new traffic adjustment is set to take effect in Downtown Dallas as construction work continues to reshape a key intersection, bringing another shift that drivers will need to quickly adapt to.

Ongoing construction activity is changing how vehicles move through the intersection of Pearl Street and Flora Street, an area known for both heavy traffic and its proximity to major landmarks. The update signals a reversal from the previous setup that had been in place for weeks, meaning regular commuters will need to stay alert and adjust their привычи patterns on the road.

Traffic Flow Reversed at Busy Downtown Intersection

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2026, only southbound traffic on Pearl Street will be allowed to pass through the Flora Street intersection. This means vehicles traveling from Woodall Rodgers Freeway (Spur 366) toward Ross Avenue will be able to continue straight through. At the same time, northbound Pearl Street lanes, which lead toward the freeway, will be completely closed at that crossing.

This change represents a clear reversal of the earlier traffic arrangement. For several weeks prior, only northbound vehicles coming from Ross Avenue were permitted to cross the intersection. Drivers who had adjusted to that setup will now face the opposite flow, which may cause confusion, delays, or sudden slowdowns as people relearn the route.

The intersection sits in a highly active part of Downtown Dallas, surrounded by well-known destinations. It is located next to the Meyerson Symphony Center and the National Shrine Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and it is just one block away from Klyde Warren Park. With constant pedestrian movement and nearby events, even a single change in traffic direction can ripple through the area, affecting both drivers and foot traffic.

To help reduce uncertainty, message boards were installed around the site in mid-March. These signs were placed in advance to alert motorists about the upcoming switch, giving them time to prepare for the shift. Even with this notice, sudden changes in familiar driving routes often require extra attention, especially during busy hours.

As construction continues, drivers are encouraged to watch for updated signage, follow traffic directions carefully, and expect possible congestion. The situation remains active, and further adjustments may follow as work progresses, making awareness and caution essential for anyone traveling through this part of the city.
