Fort Worth announces Memorial Day closures and holiday schedule changes for city offices and public services

Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth residents should prepare for adjusted city operations and closures as officials announce the Memorial Day holiday schedule for Monday, May 25.

Most City of Fort Worth offices, including City Hall, will be closed for the holiday observance. However, emergency services will continue operating as normal throughout the day.

City officials said garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk collection services will continue without interruption despite the holiday. Residents can expect regular pickup schedules on Memorial Day. However, the city’s Drop-Off Stations and Environmental Collection Center will be closed for the day. Residents needing assistance with solid waste services can contact the city at 817-392-1234.

Libraries and Several Facilities to Close

Fort Worth Public Library locations across the city will also be closed on May 25 as part of the holiday schedule.

Animal Care & Control operations will see partial closures as well. The Chuck & Brenda Silcox Center on Martin Street and Henry’s Animal Campus on Hillshire Drive will both close for Memorial Day. Still, residents looking to adopt pets will have access to the PetSmart Everyday Adoption Centers located at Alliance and Hulen, which will remain open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Several recreational and community facilities will also temporarily shut down. Most community centers, along with the Haws Athletic Center and Log Cabin Village, will not operate during the holiday. However, some community centers will stay open, including Victory Forest, Chisholm Trail, Diamond Hill, and Betsy Price community centers.

Outdoor recreational amenities will remain available for residents spending the holiday outside. Meadowbrook, Rockwood Park, and Pecan Valley golf courses will stay open. The McLeland Tennis Center, along with pools at Marine Park and Forest Park, will also continue normal operations on Memorial Day.

Public Transit Services Adjusted for Holiday

Fort Worth’s public transportation system will operate on modified schedules for the holiday.

Trinity Metro buses and On-Demand paratransit services will follow Sunday service schedules on May 25. Trinity Metro TEXRail and On-Demand rideshare services, however, will continue operating on their regular schedules.

Some transit services will not operate at all during the holiday. Officials confirmed there will be no service for Trinity Railway Express, CentrePort Circulator, or TRE LINK.

Additionally, the customer kiosk at Fort Worth Central Station will be closed for the day. Transit riders needing assistance can still reach Trinity Metro customer service by phone between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 817-215-8600.

Meanwhile, Fort Worth’s Water Department reminded residents that its automated phone system and emergency reporting services will remain available throughout the holiday. Residents can access the department’s 24-hour call center for payments, account information, or emergencies by calling 817-392-4477.

City leaders are encouraging residents to review the holiday schedule carefully before making plans or visiting public facilities during the Memorial Day observance.
