Dallas residents invited to join emergency response training sessions starting September 8

Dallas, Texas – Through a series of neighborhood Emergency Response Team (CERT) training events this September, the City of Dallas is proactively improving neighborhood safety and preparedness. The Dallas Office of Emergency Management & Crisis Response has opened registrations for this vital program, which aims to equip residents with critical skills to effectively respond to emergencies and disasters.

Comprising three Sundays—September 8, 15, and 22—the training will take place at the Dallas Fire-Rescue Training Academy on Dolphin Road. With the first two full-day sessions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a closing half-day session from 8 a.m. to noon, each session is carefully planned to offer complete emergency response training.

All Dallas citizens who are ready to help their neighborhood to be safe are eligible for the CERT program. Among the fundamental subjects of the training are first aid, light search and rescue operations, fire safety, and basic disaster preparedness. Participants in the program finish with a hands-on disaster simulation exercise where they may put their recently acquired abilities to use in a controlled setting.
