Longtime Texas Lottery player from Richardson takes home over $22 million before taxes after winning Lotto Texas jackpot

Richardson, Texas – A longtime Texas Lottery player from Richardson is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming a massive Lotto Texas jackpot worth an estimated $41 million. The winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn during the April 20 drawing, ending a jackpot run that had continued for months.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 21, 28, 33, 34, 43, and 44. According to lottery officials, the ticket was a Quick Pick and was purchased at 7-Eleven Convenience Store #36375A located along Interstate Highway 30 in Mesquite.

The winner chose the cash value option when purchasing the ticket, resulting in a payout of $22,574,163.57 before taxes instead of the full annuitized jackpot amount.

Thirty years of playing finally leads to jackpot win

The Richardson resident, who decided to remain anonymous, told lottery officials that playing Lotto Texas had become a long-standing routine over the years.

“We haven’t missed a Lotto Texas drawing in 30 years,” said the claimant, who elected to remain anonymous.

The moment the family realized they had won the jackpot was filled with disbelief and excitement. According to the winner, their spouse carefully checked the ticket several times before finally waking them late at night with the news.

While the spouse quickly went back to sleep after sharing the discovery, the claimant said the shock and excitement made rest impossible.

“I stayed up all night thinking about it!”

The winner also shared some of the plans they hope to pursue with the money. Family appears to be a major priority, with the claimant saying they look forward to helping their children and grandchildren financially. At the same time, the jackpot will also provide opportunities for travel and experiences they had long dreamed about.

“There’s a whole world out there I need to see!”

The jackpot itself had been building for quite some time. Lottery officials said the prize originally started at an advertised $5 million for the November 17, 2025 drawing. It continued to roll over for 66 consecutive drawings before finally being claimed in April 2026.

The retailer that sold the winning ticket may also benefit from the jackpot. Under the Texas Lottery Retailer Bonus Program, the Mesquite 7-Eleven location could receive a $25,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

Lotto Texas remains one of the state’s most popular lottery games. Players select six numbers from a pool of 54 numbers, with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night at 10:12 p.m. Central Time. For an additional dollar, players can also add the Extra! feature, which offers chances to increase non-jackpot prizes.

For one Richardson resident, decades of loyalty to the game finally paid off in extraordinary fashion, turning an ordinary ticket purchase into a multimillion-dollar moment that will likely change generations of the family’s future.
