Texas attorney general launches legal investigation into Antifa affiliated group Screwston

Austin, Texas – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched a legal investigation into the Screwston Anti-Fascist Committee, an unincorporated nonprofit association that state officials say may have violated Texas law. The action centers on allegations of coordinated unlawful activity tied to doxing and support for violence.
Paxton’s office said the investigation is intended to determine the scope and nature of Screwston’s conduct and whether it crossed legal boundaries under state statutes.
Investigation focuses on alleged doxing and violent activity
According to the Attorney General’s office, the inquiry will examine whether Screwston aided or encouraged terrorism-related acts and engaged in doxing, the practice of publicly releasing private personal information. Paxton accused the group and related affiliates of targeting Texans and undermining public safety.
“Radical leftists have engaged in coordinated efforts to militantly attack our nation and undermine the rule of law. Screwston and related groups have illegally doxed Texans and encouraged violent terrorism against fellow citizens,” Paxton said. “These deranged traitors will face the full force of law. No stone will be left unturned, and no tool will be left unused.”
State officials noted that the organization has publicly described itself as affiliated with Antifa, which Donald J. Trump previously designated as a terrorist organization. Investigators are also reviewing reports that individuals linked to Screwston affiliates recently took part in an armed assault on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Alvarado, Texas.
In addition, the Attorney General’s office cited concerns about merchandise sold by the group that allegedly promotes violence, including messaging that calls for harm against ICE agents. Officials said such materials could be relevant to determining intent and potential violations of state law.
As part of the probe, Paxton has issued a Request to Examine to Screwston. The request is a formal legal demand for records and documents that investigators say are necessary to assess compliance with Texas law and identify any unlawful conduct.
The Attorney General’s office emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that findings will determine any next steps, including possible enforcement actions. Officials said the process will rely on evidence gathered through records, documents, and other materials produced in response to the request.
