Houston, Texas – A resident of Kingwood has stepped forward to claim a life-changing prize after purchasing a lucky scratch-off ticket in Houston. Officials with the Texas Lottery confirmed that the player won $1 million playing the scratch ticket game Mega Millionaire.

Lottery officials said the winning ticket was purchased at Kingwood Mart, a convenience store located in Houston. The player, who lives in the Kingwood area, chose to remain anonymous after claiming the prize.

Lucky Scratch Ticket Brings Million Dollar Prize

According to the Texas Lottery, the ticket was part of the Mega Millionaire scratch-off game, which offers several top prizes and millions of dollars in potential winnings. When the Kingwood resident scratched the ticket, they discovered it was worth the full $1 million top prize.

Lottery officials confirmed that this was the first of four top prizes worth $1 million to be claimed in the game.

While the identity of the winner was not released, officials said the lucky ticket was purchased at Kingwood Mart on Rustic Woods Drive in Houston. The retailer that sold the winning ticket may also receive a financial reward.

Under the Texas Lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program, the store could be eligible for a $10,000 bonus for selling the prize-winning ticket.
