Dallas authorities take 61 robbery suspects off the streets during Operation Clean Sweep

Dallas, Texas – Dallas law enforcement officials announced a sweeping crackdown that led to the arrest of dozens of fugitives tied to robbery-related crimes, marking a major push to reduce repeat offenses and violent activity across the city.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux, along with Sean Malecha, Acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Texas, and Sergeant Sheldon Smith, confirmed that 61 fugitives were arrested during Operation Clean Sweep. The operation took place between February 2 and March 12, 2026, focusing on suspects wanted for robbery and aggravated robbery offenses in Dallas and surrounding areas through a joint effort with the U.S. Marshals Service.

Focus on repeat offenders and violent crime

Authorities made it clear that many of those taken into custody were not first-time offenders. Several suspects were wanted for multiple robbery cases, while others had long criminal records involving shootings, narcotics offenses, assault, and even murder.

“Our data tells us that a small number of criminals are responsible for a majority of the crime,” said Chief Comeaux. “By partnering with the U.S. Marshals, we are able to multiply our manpower and take these fugitives off the street before they can re-offend.”

The operation relied heavily on investigative work by the Dallas Police Robbery Unit and the Serial Robbery Task Force, who identified suspects and built cases before coordinated arrest efforts were carried out by the Fugitive Unit, Crime Response Teams, and federal partners.

Among those arrested were individuals facing serious charges, including capital murder tied to aggravated robbery. Trevon Quinones and Jayden DeJesus were both wanted out of Broward County, Florida on capital murder charges connected to robbery cases, while Ocie Busby was also wanted for capital murder linked to aggravated robbery.

Crime reduction linked to operation

Officials pointed to measurable results during the operation period. Robberies of individuals dropped by 17.75 percent, while robberies targeting businesses fell by 35.29 percent. Investigators credited the reduction to removing repeat offenders who were believed to be responsible for a large share of ongoing crimes.

The department said the partnership with the U.S. Marshals allowed for increased manpower and faster tracking of fugitives, strengthening enforcement efforts across the city.
