Get special State Fair of Texas entry discounts with supporting the local food bank
Dallas, Texas – Announcing its yearly cooperation with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) for the “Feed the Need” food drive, the State Fair of Texas has once again demonstrated tremendous community spirit and kindness giving. Fair attendees are reminded to help this great cause—which seeks to reduce hunger across North Texas—as the fair starts on Friday, September 27.
Having started in 2010, the partnership has effectively collected approximately 3.5 million pounds of canned goods, equivalent to millions of meals for underprivileged households. Senior Vice President of Customer Engagement at the State Fair of Texas Jennifer Schuder expressed delight in this successful partnership.
“We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with the North Texas Food Bank, which last year resulted in approximately 218,000 pounds of canned goods – equivalent to 181,000 meals,” said Schuder in a news release, emphasizing the significant difference these efforts make in the community.
The fair is including tempting incentives this year to inspire donations. Supporting NTFB’s Peanut Butter Drive, guests can contribute two 16-ounce plastic jars of peanut butter and get a $10 entrance coupon on opening day. Every Wednesday, the fair keeps up its charitable efforts by distributing a $5 coupon to everyone who donate five full-sized canned food products.
NTFB is also calling on volunteers to help with the food drive. Interested individuals can register at the NTFB website and will get a unique “Feed the Need” T-shirt and a coupon good for future fair entrance. NTFB President and CEO Trisha Cunningham underlined the value of these initiatives.
“With 1 in 5 children in our service area facing hunger, this event plays a crucial role in providing meals to those in need,” Cunningham said in the news release.
Through its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste campaign, Kroger has been extremely helpful in supporting this effort. Kroger loaded the food bank with 4.6 million wholesome meals last year. Director of Corporate Affairs John Votava of Kroger reiterated Kroger’s dedication to building a hunger-free society.
The State Fair of Texas and the North Texas Food Bank ask the community to join in their endeavor to “Feed the Need,” as the fair and food drive get underway. Along with great fun and excitement at the fair, this initiative provides an opportunity to significantly improve the lives of many.
