Dallas youth invited to shape city’s future through new survey

Dallas, Texas – The Dallas Youth Commission, in partnership with the National Civic League, is calling on young people ages 13 through 24 across the city to participate in the 2024 Dallas Youth Survey. This significant initiative seeks to engage youth in meaningful dialogue about their perspectives and priorities, with the results set to shape future youth-centered initiatives.
Chloe Hawkins, Chair of the Dallas Youth Commission, emphasized the importance of youth input, stating, “This is an unprecedented opportunity for students to influence the city’s decisions on youth programs and services. We want every student to know that their voice matters, and this survey is a direct way to impact change.”
The survey explores various themes crucial to young residents, including civic engagement, education, public safety, transportation, and recreational activities, as well as future career aspirations. It’s designed as a “by youth, for youth initiative” that empowers students to have a say in the policies and programs that affect their lives.
The goal is to collect responses from at least 5,000 participants by the deadline on November 30, 2024. The findings from the survey will be pivotal in the 2024 Dallas Youth Summit, where youth leaders will come together to discuss the results and devise actionable plans tailored to the insights gathered.
The initiative not only gives students a platform to voice their opinions but also plays a crucial role in shaping a responsive municipal government that values and acts upon the concerns of its younger constituents.
Those interested can find the survey online and are encouraged to contribute their views. The survey results will be presented at the upcoming Dallas Young Leaders Summit, ensuring that the voices of Dallas’ youth are heard and integrated into future strategies for city development.
