Fort Worth celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with cultural showcase at City Hall

Fort Worth, Texas – Residents of Fort Worth are invited to join a vibrant celebration marking the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, taking place from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the lobby of Fort Worth City Hall. The event promises to be a colorful and joyous gathering filled with traditional music, folkloric dances, local food, and cultural exhibits presented by various community groups.
As the celebration transitions into the evening, the Fort Worth City Council will convene at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber to deliver a formal proclamation honoring Hispanic Heritage Month, as well as recognizing local organizations that have reached significant milestone anniversaries. These recognitions aim to highlight the important contributions of Hispanic-led organizations and individuals across the city.
Music, Dance, and Culinary Delights
Attendees can enjoy performances by Mariachi de la Gran Plaza de Fort Worth, the World Languages Institute-Estudiantina, and Ropers from Mexico en La Sangre, along with traditional dances performed by Ballet Folklorico Azteca and Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth. Local artist Tiffany Rodriguez will also entertain the crowd, while the Nuestras Raíces fashion show brings cultural attire and heritage to life on stage.
To provide a true “taste” of Fort Worth’s Hispanic influence, a lineup of local culinary favorites will offer samples of authentic dishes. Participants include Don Goyo, Don Artemio, Toro Toro, Casa Azul, Tortas Ahogadas de Guadalajara, Polanco Restaurant, Cafe Chadra, Paleteria Nochistlense, Los Pastores, and Los Vaqueros. The offerings will reflect the rich flavors of Latino cuisine and the diversity of Fort Worth’s Hispanic community.
Community Engagement and Cultural Exhibits
The event also features informational and cultural displays from various organizations, including the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (Fort Worth Chapter), Kimbell Art Museum, Nuestro Kimbell, Fort Worth Botanic Garden ¡Celebramos!, and TCU Athletics Ranas Initiative, among others. Additional participants include Coleccion Mexicana-Sundance Square, La Vaquera Committee of the National Cowgirl Museum, Fort Worth Sister Cities’ Toluca Committee, and Celebro Sano, providing insight into Hispanic heritage, health, and arts.
Widespread Community Support
This celebratory kickoff is made possible thanks to a broad coalition of sponsors, including the City of Fort Worth, Visit Fort Worth, Artes de La Rosa, AARP, Federacion Zacatecana Nuestras Raíces, and many others, along with dance troupes, restaurants, and community-led initiatives.
A Month of Celebration and Recognition
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed across the United States from September 15 to October 15, serving as a tribute to the diverse traditions, histories, and contributions of the Latino community. The City of Fort Worth’s event highlights the power of culture, unity, and civic pride, inviting residents and visitors alike to participate in the festivities.
As Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently emphasized during another cultural recognition, events like these are essential to “ensure this tradition for the people,” and Fort Worth is doing just that by elevating Hispanic voices and traditions through community-driven celebration.
